Trentham Brass Band was delighted to perform at this year’s Canal Festival at Middleport Pottery, enjoying a fantastic day of music, community spirit, and sunshine.
The band performed two 45-minute concert sessions throughout the day, entertaining festival visitors with a varied programme of upbeat music, popular favourites, and traditional brass band sounds. The warm weather and lively festival atmosphere helped create a wonderful occasion, with many audience members stopping to listen, clap along, and sing with the music.
One of the highlights of the day came during the interval when the band organised a “Try a Brass Instrument” session. Children and adults were invited to have a go at playing a brass instrument, giving many people their first experience of creating a sound from a cornet, horn, or baritone. The activity proved hugely popular and brought plenty of smiles and laughter, especially as some of the younger participants demonstrated surprising natural talent.
Events such as the Canal Festival provide an excellent opportunity for local communities to experience live brass band music and engage directly with musicians. As a community-focused charity, Trentham Brass Band is passionate about encouraging people of all ages to discover the enjoyment of music-making.
